MOMENTUM
LEADS TODD BODINE & ESGR RACING TEAM TO DOVER (Del.) INTERNATIONAL
SPEEDWAY
Charlotte,
N.C. (May 27, 2003) – Todd Bodine and the ESGR racing team are
riding the wave of momentum after posting their six top-five finish
of the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series season on Saturday in the CARQUEST
Auto Parts 300 at Lowe's (N.C.) Motor Speedway. Bodine's finish earned
him enough points to retake the lead in the NASCAR Busch Series driver's
point standings, where he currently sits 98 points ahead of second
place.
The
team is looking forward to this weekend's MBNA Platinum 200 at Dover
(Del.) International Speedway, where Herzog Jackson Motorsports (HJM)
will partner with ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve),
marking the fourth such partnership between the Department of Defense
agency and the racing organization. Other locations included in the
partnership are: Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Kansas (Kan.)
Speedway and the races held previously at Gateway (Ill.) International
Raceway, Nazareth (Penn.) Speedway and Lowe's (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
Bodine
enters the race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway with a history
of success at the one-mile track. In 1991, he scored a victory in
only his second start at the track. A pole position followed in the
spring race of 1992, and in 1993 he went on to win both the spring
race and the fall race. Out of 18 starts, he has accumulated seven
top-five finishes, nine top-10 finishes and a remarkable three victories.
Herzog Jackson Motorsports will be making their eighth start at Dover,
with their best finish of 12th coming in last year's spring race with
Todd Bodine at the helm of the No. 92.
"I
have good feelings about Dover because I just really enjoy the track,"
stated Bodine. "Everybody has at least one or two of those tracks
on the circuit that you feel really comfortable at, and for me that's
Dover. Maybe it's because I've had success there in the past. I won
both Busch races in '93 and also have a pole. This year it's going
to be exciting heading there being the points leader and running for
the Busch Series championship. Hopefully we can get the ESGR Chevy
into victory lane."
Chartered
in 1972 by Presidential Proclamation, the National Committee for Employer
Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense
agency that acts as a liaison between those serving in the Guard and
Reserve and their full-time civilian employers. Consisting of 4,200
volunteers across the United States and overseas, the ESGR has become
vital in their services as the employment rights information source
for members of the Guard and Reserve.
Live
television coverage of the MBNA Platinum 200 at Dover (Del.) International
Speedway will begin on Saturday, May 31 at 12:30 pm EDT on FX. MRN
Radio will also broadcast the event live beginning at 12:30 pm EDT.
